Comics to Entertain You pt 1

So, for my first official blog post, I thought I'd start by introducing you to some of my favorite comics.

Now that may take some time to get through them all, I've got over 1200 comics here...

Anyhow, this first one is my current favorite, and I only got it today!

Batgirl, Vol. 3 issue 14: Terror in the Third Dimension

Firstly, details about the issue, it has a publication date of November 2010, it has 32 pages odd and a cover price of US$2.99.

Guest starring characters are Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, and Dracula, aka King of the Vampires and Prince of Darkness.

The summary reads thusly "When Supergirl decides to get away from it all and visit Stephanie Brown on the campus of Gotham City University, a quiet, relaxing weekend turns into a monster movie mash-up! After a science experiment goes horribly wrong, 24 black-and-white Draculas are brought to life, and Batgirl and Supergirl are forced to become vampire hunters in order to stop an army of the celluloid undead!"

To be fair, I don't know too much about Batgirl besides a couple of their secret identities (Barbara Gordon and Cassandra Cain) and the reason I got this issue was because it guest starred Supergirl (I love that gal I tell ya) and you know, it starts out slow, with Supergirl showing up and dragging Batgirl, or rather her secret persona, Stephanie Brown out for a night of college fun (keg parties or pillow fights), they wind up at a a 3D revival of 'Vampyres Bryde.'

During the film an experiment in generating solid 3D holographic objects goes wrong and unleashes a seconds worth of Draculas from the film (at 24 frames per second, that's 24 Draculas). It transpires that the only way to take them down is by stabbing them through the heart with some control rods. As the two superheroines bond and take down the Draculas we are entertained with awesome scenes of fights and amusement. And after all the Draculas are done and dusted, we turn up back at the Brown residence just too late for the pillow fight, and just in time for Steph and Kara to declare BFFs...

As a fan of the art, this comic book doesn't disappoint, it is, for my tastes, a little rounded in the art style, but it makes up for that with great writing and excellent execution.

Over-all, a 9 out of 10.
